CHARLESTON, S.C. — Todd White did something that hasn't happened in fifteen years at the Azalea Invitational. At 47-years-old, White became the first non-junior or college player since 2000 to win the prestigious event as he ousted Brazil's top-ranked amateur Andre Tourinho by two shots at The Country Club of Charleston.

White and Tourinho were co-leaders after 54 holes but White, of Spartanburg, S.C., shot his fourth consecutive round in the 60s at the 1925 Seth Raynor design to pull away from the Brazilian.

After opening the tournament on Thursday with a 65, White strung together 67, 69, and 68 over the next three days while maintaining at worst a share of the lead at the conclusion of all four rounds.

White is a 13-time USGA participant, including two appearances in 2014. He reached the round of 64 at the U.S. Amateur and lost to eventual runner-up Brad Nurski in the quarterfinals of the U.S. Mid-Amateur.

Tourinho carded his own 65 in round two, bookended by a pair of 68s, before closing on Sunday with a one-under 70 to finish two behind White. Toiurinho already has two top-three finishes in 2015, finishing runner-up to 2014 U.S. Mid-Amateur champion Scott Harvey at the South American Amateur and placing third at the Latin America Amateur.

Tourinho made a double-bogey on the par-three 6th hole, but bounced back quickly with birdies at 7 and 9. He shot just even par on the back nine, however, including a bogey on 18. With White also making five on the final hole, a birdie for the Rio de Janeiro native would've forced a playoff.

University of Toledo senior Chris Selfridge, of Northern Ireland, claimed third place at 12-under 272 after beginning the week with 71, which placed him behind 44 players than opened the event in red numbers. But Selfridge posted 67 in the remaining three rounds to slowly climb inside of the top-three.

Thursday's first round saw 44 players break par, but by week's end, the Country Club of Charleston had clearly toughened up, leaving just 24 players below even par on Sunday.

Rounding out the top-five are California State-San Marcos junior Dylan Healey, who used 65 and 66 over the weekend to catapult up the leaderboard into fourth place at 11-under 273. Patrick Christovich, of New Orleans, placed fifth at nine-under 275. His lowest round of the tournament came on day one when his 66 was just one back of the eventual winner White.
